Each and every day we are blessed with another amazing opportunity to wake up, dive into our day head first , and experience this amazing opportunity we call life! The trick here is to remember what it's all about! We all get so busy with what's going on in the world.... what's on the news, what our kids need, what's on that to do list that never stops growing and that thing called WORK... Oh yeah, the one that can bog us down and occupy much of our waking lives.
Each morning at Seeking Indigo we start our day with a little pause to reflect on the mandala created for that day, to remember what our purpose is, our intention for that day, and what we can do to spread a little joy to those that will cross our paths along the way.
Although the Mandala tradition was borrowed from Bali, we have embraced it as something near and dear to our hearts and this week it reminds me so much of a beautiful spring morning in Charleston. Thank you Erin for your amazing talent and for making this a daily part of our lives at Seeking Indigo.

Qigong Moving Meditation
We know a gem when we see one, and that's exactly what Greg Ryan and his Qigong meditation is for Seeking Indigo and the community at large. The second Thursday of each month, Seeking Indigo offers Qigong meditation at 6:30pm.
Next class: Thurs, April 14th.
Can't make it? You'll definitely want to try a Qigong Massage with Greg. There is no better way to release any tension you're holding, and allow yourself to rest in pure peace. Enjoy our newest addition to the family by booking a session here.
Bringing Qi Gong to Charleston helps fulfill our integral vision of offering the many healing modalities practiced across the globe .... all under one roof.
At dawn on any given morning in China, you might see hundreds of people practicing qigong by themselves in the park. It's a lifestyle, and part of an every day regimen designed to relax your mind, body and spirit.
Seeking Indigo's newest practitioner, Greg Ryan, hosts 1 hour of Qigong Moving Meditation on the second Thursday of each month. For a newbie like me, it was perfect - no rules, no pressure, no blood no sweat (okay a little sweat) no tears. Just an easy, first hand introduction to what traditional Chinese culture refers to as our life force - the qi.
A Qigong session will leave you energized, completely recharged and alive like never before. I felt my body release the pain and tension it had been holding with ease. This was more subtle than exercise, but still active - you're not just moving the physical body but circulating your energies to give your system a chance to rebalance, so no part of you starves for energy.
Qigong obviously resonated with me, but is hard to put into words. It's not to be intellectualized, unless you're ready and eager to dive head first into the subtle realms of quantum mechanics - but you can learn by simply showing up. Come for Qigong Moving Meditation on the second Thursday night of each month, and feel the qi for yourself.

Stop, Breathe, Relax: What is Qigong?
"Qigong is not an exercise - it is dynamic meditation. Doing repetitions is not the focus - it is conscious application of the 3 intentful corrections - lengthen the spine, deepen the breath, clear the mind of visualize healing." -Dr. Roger Jahnke, OMD
Qigong is a 5,000 year old healing modality that may soon change the face of healthcare for all of us. On the surface, Qigong is an exercise designed to build the immune system and strengthen the body through a series of slow, yoga or Thai Chi like moves performed in synchrony with deep breathing rhythms. With experience and a deeper look, however, qigong reveals itself to be a self-healing tool using a moving form of meditation. It just may be the key to self-regulated healing.
Qigong is especially effective in reducing stress, thereby enhancing the immune system and preventing illness and dis-ease. De-stress from a long day's work and join us Thursday, March 10th for our first Qigong Meditation.

What is Kirtan?
Meditation doesn't come easy for many people. And that's where kirtan-an ancient participatory music experience-offers another method. Without the work of mentally quieting the mind, kirtan can carry us effortlessly to a place of quiet, to stillness. One of the oldest sacred music traditions of the world, the kirtan call-and-response chanting genre comes to us from India. Using ancient Sanskrit mantras, the kirtan calls upon sacred energies which serve to quiet the mind, remove obstacles, and bring us back to the center of our being.
Freedom From Daily Chatter
By repeating simple mantras over and over, faster and faster, the kirtan is an easy way for people to experience some freedom from the daily chatter of the mind. And while it is true that we can sing these chants in the solitude of our own home, there is nothing like the magic of chanting live with musicians and hundreds of participants-from kids to seniors-all adding their energy to the chant. People often say they feel "buzzed" for days following such a chanting experience.
As medical costs increase and people grow skeptical of traditional medical advice and pharmaceuticals, holistic medicine is playing a more significant role. Holistic medicine is known as treating the whole person with the goal of achieving a balance in mind, body and the spirit. At Seeking Indigo, the same approach is taken.
While Western medical practices focus on treating the physical symptoms and complaints of illness and disease, a holistic approach looks at a variety of factors that may be contributing to health problems and healing that, not masking the symptoms. Holistic therapies range from the use of herbs to yoga and meditation practices to massage and crystals. Holistic practitioners specialize in different modalities and treatments.
Although holistic medicine was once considered by many (especially in the West) to be illegitimate, these days even doctors who have studied traditional Western medicine are starting to recognize the benefits of many holistic medicine perspectives and treatments. Even medical doctors will suggest certain holistic treatments as a supplement to their methods.
The basic concept of holistic medicine is that each person has a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual component to his or her body. Each part has different and unique levels of consciousness and energy. When there is disharmony between the different parts, the body can become unhealthy, resulting in illness or disease. People who practice holistic medicine believe harmony must be recreated in order for healing and health to take place.
Common signs of unbalance in one's body are a compromised immune system, aches and pains, and emotional instability. The holistic practitioner's goal is to restore balance first, which results in the improvement and eventual disappearance of symptoms. The way to meet this objective varies greatly from doctor to doctor. Some chiropractors also specialize in holistic medicine, and they focus on creating balance through spinal alignment. On the other hand, an herbalist or nutritionist is going to focus on creating balance through foods and herbal concoctions, while an aromatherapist can bring balance back through essential oils that are applied directly to the body via lotions or carrier oils.
There are many different categories within holistic medicine. Here are five of the most popular therapies offered at Seeking Indigo:

What if you could take all of that knowledge and all of that invaluable experience and integrate it into a system of understanding that you could then teach to others in an effort to uplift the universe? Sounds like a daughting task, huh? Well it's a good thing that the Zen master and genius Ken Wilber has done all of that for you. Several local Charlestonian's attended Heal Your Heart and Attract True Love. Both evenings were insightful and transformative! Oftentimes, we don't realize that we hold ourselves back from love when we fear getting hurt or when we don't validate our own true worth! The first: "Healing Lost Love" is a beautiful imagery that guides you to rescue the part of you that you may have lost in a relationship break up.
The second CD called "Attract True Love" will help you to clear old negative beliefs about yourself and what you deserve and to become a positive point of attraction for LOVE!
Both CDs are available for $20 a piece. They are like having your own private hypnotherapy session at home! Enjoy!
